High quality pre-well engineering and planning are critical to project success. Cougar Drilling Solutions places strong emphasis on conducting thorough engineering and planning well in advance of drilling operations commencement to ensure that the right tools, drill-bits and BHA designs are being run with the most optimally drilling parameters.

Directional Well Planning and Anti Collision

Cougar utilizes two engineering software packages for directional well planning and anti-collision analysis.

  • Landmark Compass: All wells, fields and structures are set-up up in Compass and a central data-base maintained at head office. This allows a consistent, industry standard data-base to be held which is compatible to that used by many Operating Companies.
  • Techdrill DSP-1: This is an integrated well engineering software packages typically utilized at the well-site which allows comprehensive well engineering to be carried out as well as directional drilling engineering.

In addition, Cougar utilizes the suit of vibration critical modes and directional tendency modelling provided by APS Technology’s WellDrill engineering package. All BHAs to be run-in-hole are first processed through the WellDrill finite element analysis to ensure that harmful vibration levels are not induced by the wrong combination of drilling parameters.

Drilling Optimization Engineering

Cougar Drilling Solutions is assembling a team of qualified and experienced drilling optimization engineer to provide project planning, well-site execution supervision, and post well drilling and geologoical knowledge management to deliver technical limit drilling performance and ultimately to re-define the project technical limits.

Geo-steering

Cougar Drilling Solutions can provide geo-steering planning and well-site execution utilizing our WPR LWD resistivity service and a forward modelling software package. This services allow more precise lateral well placement in the reservoir to enhance productivity from horizontal wells be they long or short radius.
